Burcin Bozkaya earned his Ph.D. in Management Science at the University of Alberta, Canada and then joined ESRI, Inc., a software company specialized in geographic information systems (GIS). In 2004, Dr. Bozkaya joined Sabanci University School of Management as a full-time faculty member, where he conducted research and published in the field of Operations Research using various analytical techniques on location analysis, location-based services, decision support systems, logistics system design and route optimization, and held various administrative positions. He also completed numerous industry projects in these fields, receiving several international awards. Since 2019, Dr. Bozkaya is a Professor of Data Science and the Director of the Graduate Program in Applied Data Science at New College of Florida. He was also a Visiting Professor at MIT Media Lab working with the Human Dynamics Group. His current interests include behavioral analytics using big data, consumer behavior, spatio-temporal modeling and analysis, and transportation modeling. Dr. Bozkaya is a long-distance runner, an amateur musician, and a proud father of two.
